Press Release IXP Forum
The Public Utilities Commission and Packet Clearing House, a leading implementer of Internet Exchange Points, will host a special Open Forum discussion on “The Benefits of an Internet Exchange Point” for stakeholders in Belize; to be held from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday June 6, 2013, at the CARACOL ROOM of the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City.
The Forum will provide participants with the information necessary to make informed decisions and take appropriate action for establishing a local IXP; including best practice for increasing available local bandwidth, the economic and technical benefits as well as principles and requirements for establishing local IXP’s.
It will be open to representatives of organizations that use the internet to deliver or receive local content or data services, including Government, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), academic institutions, content creators and the media.
This informative event will be facilitated by Mr. Bill Woodcock, Research Director at Packet Clearing House; and Mr. Bevil Wooding, Internet Strategist at Packet Clearing House and Programme Director for the Caribbean Telecommunications Union’s Caribbean ICT Roadshow.
The event, which is being sponsored by Packet Clearing House and the Public Utilities Commission, is endorsed by the Caribbean Telecommunications Union, CTU.
The media is invited to be a part of the event as well as to provide coverage of this Forum.
