The Public Utilities Commission of Belize, wishes to take advantage of the presence in the country of Packet Clearing House, one of the world’s leading implementer of Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), to convene a special Open Forum discussion on “The Benefits Of An Internet Exchange Point (IXP)” for stakeholders in Belize on 6th June, 2013, at the CARACOL ROOM, Villa Wing, Radisson Fort George Hotel.
The Forum will cover the principles and requirements for establishing local IXPs as well as the economic and technical benefits.
A local IXP can be considered as a critical platform for increasing the availability of local bandwidth and for supporting domestic-focused, bandwidth-intense applications and services. Internationally, IXPs are considered to be the cornerstone for local content development initiatives, and an essential mechanism for developing and expanding the economy and market for internet-based products and services.
